NRFA to commence road tolling at Kafue Bridge

The National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) will commence road tolling for all vehicle classifications at Kafue bridge police check point on 14 November 2016.

This will be a third toll gate in addition to Manyumbi, between Kabwe and Kapiri Mposhi, and Kafulafuta, between Kapiri Mposhi and Ndola.

NRFA spokesperson Alphonsius Hamachila has told QTV that the Kafue Bridge is a temporal toll site and will be relocated to Shimabala where construction of a permanent plaza is underway.

He states that heavy duty vehicles will continue paying tolls at the Kafue weighbridge point to avoid traffic congestion at the toll gate

Mr. Hamachila says other permanent toll plazas are currently under construction at Chongwe, Mumbwa and Chisamba.

He states that the Agency envisioned tolling the core road network across the ten provinces of Zambia to generate revenue for road maintenance.
