Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister Lawrence Sichalwe says government has no immediate intentions of taking away the responsibility of handling customary land from the chiefs.

Mr. Sichalwe notes that government is also aware of the concerns that traditional leaders in the country have raised on the amended republican constitution.

He has told QFM news in an interview that this is why his ministry recently called for a meeting with the house of chiefs to enable them point out lacunas in the amended constitution.

Mr. Sichalwe says this audience has given his ministry an idea of the issues which it soon will forward to the ministry of justice for consideration for possible amendments.
