Pope Francis prays for Zambia

Pope Francis has prayed that all the Zambian people will continue to pursue the common good for a more peaceful and just society.

Pope Francis, the leader of the world-wide Catholic Communion said this in a message of congratulations to President Edgar Chagwa Lungu on the occasion marking Zambia’s 52nd independence anniversary which fell yesterday.

He has prayed that all Zambians may enjoy peace and prosperity.

And South African President Jacob Zuma has congratulated the Zambian people on the country’s independence anniversary.

In an Independence Day anniversary message, to President Lungu, President Zuma reaffirmed South Africa’s desire to strengthen the excellent bonds of friendship that exist between Zambia and that country.
