Govt advises against abandoning construction works

Government says its owing money to local contractors should not be an excuse for them to abandon the works or fail to deliver.

Ministry of Works and Supply Permanent Secretary Charles Mushota says government is making efforts to ensure that all the contractors are paid the money they are owed.

He says the ministry of works and supply will not allow a situation where the provision of infrastructure to the Zambian people is jeopardized by non serious contractors.

Mr. Mushota says government has demonstrated that it wants to provide infrastructure to the Zambian people as well as build capacity in the local contractors.

He states that the Zambian people are waiting to access the infrastructure projects that government is putting up and thus the need for local contractors to be serious.
