The Independent Church of Zambia (ICOZ) has encouraged politicians to attend to tomorrow’s national day of prayer, fasting, repentance and reconciliation.

ICOZ Chairperson Bishop David Masupa says there is need for political parties to differentiate between political issues and national matters.

Bishop Masupa says all politicians should attend the National day of prayer and fasting regardless of their differences.

He states that the day of national prayer and fasting has no political boundaries, but is a day to make peace and reconcile with one another and should be utilized as such.

Bishop Masupa has since encouraged all well meaning Zambians to attend the prayers.

And The Felix Mutati led MMD has urged people in the country to take tomorrow’s day of national prayer and fasting as an opportunity to draw strength from each other spiritually.

Faction National Secretary Raphael Nakachinda says his party believes that the day of national prayer also provides an opportunity for people to reconcile with each other.

Mr. Nakachinda states that this is because when people gather for such prayers, they congregate towards a common goal of seeking God’s guidance and blessing.

In an interview with QTV News, Mr. Nakachinda states that the former ruling party will therefore attend the day of national prayer.

He states that the MMD recognizes Zambia as Christian nation and is proud to associate itself with God.

Meanwhile The opposition National Restoration Party (NAREP) has observed that the national day of prayer and fasting would have made sense if it was held after political party leaders had reconciled with each other.

NAREP Vice President Charles Maboshe says it is undeniable fact that politicians needed to reconcile before the prayers.

He has however, encouraged the organizers of the event to pray for total healing in some politicians who are failing to come to terms with the elections outcome.

Mr. Maboshe states that NAREP will attend the prayers because of the importance such gatherings in building national peace, unity and love.
