Zesco United on Wednesday turn their focus back on their Faz Super League title defence when they host struggling Lusaka Dynamos at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

This will be Zesco’s second competitive match since their 2016 Caf Champions League semifinal exit at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns on September 29.

But Wednesday’s fixture will be Zesco’s first league match after they eliminated Konkola Blades 2-1 in the 2016 Barclays Cup quarterfinals on October 2.

Zesco head into the game in fifth place on 43 points, 18 points behind leaders Zanaco from 20 and 26 games placed respectively.

So Zesco have a lot of catching up to do with their seven games in hand and another six for the rest of the league to play before the 2016 season ends.

Zesco welcome back from international duty Kenya striker Jesse Were.

The champions will be hoping their top scorer Were can add to his 12 league goals so far in 2016 after playing a friendly for the Harambee Stars on October 4 in a 1-0 away win over DR Congo.

Also back from international assignment is the Zambia duo of midfielder Clatous Chama and Jackson Mwanza who scored in that 2-0 first leg away win over Dynamos on June 22.

Another victory over third-from-bottom Dynamos will see Zesco rise to fourth place if Green Buffaloes, who are in that position, lose away to Napsa Stars in Lusaka on the same date.

Meanwhile, Dynamos will be hoping to stay unbeaten for a second straight match after picking up two wins and two draws from their last five games.
