Green Party President Peter Sinkamba has charged that Police brutality against citizens especially women is tarnishing President Edgar Lungu’s efforts to champion the rights of women in the country.

Mr. Sinkamba notes that while President Lungu has tried hard to champion women’s rights, the last week’s incident where police allegedly brutalized UPND women has left people confused on whether the president means what he says.

He has since urged Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo to stop Police brutality and reorient Police officers on how they should professionally carry out their work.

Mr. Sinkamba says there is no justification for Police brutality and hence the need to ensure that police officers conduct themselves in a manner that is acceptable regardless of which political parties they are dealing with.
