ZCID castigates HH for failing to recognize Lungu as President

The Zambia Centre for Inter-Party Dialogue (ZCID) has condemned the failure by the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) to recognise President Edgar Lungu as republican president.

ZCID Executive Director Horrance Chilando says it is unlawful for the opposition party leader to disregard the law by demeaning the Head of State.

Mr Chilando says there is no justification for failing to accord president Lungu the respect because he was officially sworn in as republican president.

He adds that there are better ways of expressing dissatisfaction other than conducting themselves in a manner likely to disturb public peace.

And Mr Chilando notes that it is unreasonable for UPND members of parliament to continue living in denial by not accepting President Lungu as Republican president while attending parliamentary sessions.

He has since appealed to all well meaning Zambians to respect the law and desist from such acts by accepting Mr. Lungu as republican president.
