Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini says there is no denial that Zambia has a president whose name is Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

Dr Matibini said this after UPND Choma Central Member of Parliament Cornelius Mweetwa referred to President Lungu merely as Mr Lungu during the vice president’s question time, resulting in vice president Inonge Wina initially refusing to answer the question before the speaker’s intervention.

Dr Matibini says the Parliament would have started sitting if the country did not have a Republican president.

He says there is no point in denying the fact that the country has a president.

Dr Matibini reminded the Members of Parliament that no so longer they all swore the oath of allegiance to the president.
