The Zambia Council for Social Development (ZCSD) says it is inappropriate for the government to think of making changes to the current constitution when the Bill of Rights has not been adopted.

ZCSD Executive Secretary Lewis Mwape says the indication by the Justice Minister that he wants to revisit the constitution is worrying considering that the same constitution is incomplete without the Bill of Rights following the failure of the referendum.

Mr. Mwape says the Minister of Justice should instead consider making plans on how the remaining part of the constitution will be adopted and not making changes to the constitution.

He notes that while the current constitution has many errors which need corrected, what is required at the moment is finding means and ways of adopting the remaining part of the constitution which is the Bill of Rights.
