Former Church of God Overseer Bishop John Mambo has advised political parties represented in parliament to avoid directly influencing their Members of Parliament on matters of national interest.

Bishop Mambo says the Members of Parliament were sent to the House by the electorate as the voice of the people on issues affecting them.

He says political parties should therefore not influence the decisions of the Members of Parliament as they do not represent their respective political parties but the people of their respective constituencies.

And Bishop Mambo is urging Members of Parliament to be mindful of the challenges the people of Zambia are facing.

He says it is the role of Members of Parliament to see to it that they firmly and fairly represent their constituents in parliament.
