The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) says it is focusing on reducing road traffic accidents by 35 percent by addressing over speeding on the roads.

In this vein, the agency has procured handheld cameras to trap over speeding vehicles on the Zambian roads.

RTSA Head of Public Relations Fredrick Mubanga tells QTV News in an interview that over speeding has been one of the major causes of road traffic accidents and thus the need to address it now.

Mr. Mubanga is confident that once all motorists adhere to speed limitations on the roads, the accidents are likely to reduce by 35 percent.

He says the agency remains committed in ensuring that road accidents are reduced in the country by promoting initiatives aimed at educating motorists on the need to adhere to road safety standards.

Mr. Mubanga says this is the more reason why the agency is promoting the three ‘E’s namely education, engineering and education.
