Queen Elizabeth the second says she looks forward to the continuation of the warm relationship and close ties between Zambia and Britain during President Edgar Lungu’s five year term of office.

In a congratulatory message, Queen Elizabeth has wished President Lungu and the people of Zambia a peaceful and prosperous future.

The Queen said this in a congratulatory message to President Lungu, conveyed by British High Commissioner to Zambia Fergus Cochrane-Dyet.

And French President Francoise Hollande has extolled Zambia for leading the way in democracy, tolerance and freedom of expression.

The French President has called for continued dialogue with President Edgar Lungu on democracy, tolerance and freedom of expression and particularly at the Africa-France Summit scheduled to take place in Bamako, Mali in January 2017.

President Hollande said he would be pleased if President Lungu participated in the Summit.

President Hollande assured of continued support to President Lungu, and that Zambia can count on France as an active and committed partner for the country’s economic and social development.

In a message of congratulations to President Lungu on his re-election, President Hollande wished the President every success in achieving his goals of Zambia’s economic diversification and infrastructure development in particular, energy and transport sectors.

The French President expressed confidence that France and Zambia will continue to work together for Africa’s stability.
