The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia Chapter says it wants President Edgar Lungu to direct Parliament during the next seating to ensure that the Access to Information Bill is enacted into law.

MISA Zambia Chairperson Hellen Mwale says they are aware that the access to information bill was provided for in the bill of rights but that the referendum failed and thus the need for the President to act.

She notes that they know that the President has powers to make its stand alone so that is enacted citing that it has been long overdue.

Ms. Mwale says the access to information bill will help the public to make informed choices as the media will be able to give them full information on issues of their interest.

She has further urged the members of parliament states to push for the enactment of the access to information bill.
