The thirty three councilors in Lusaka have today taken oath of office after being elected in last month’s general elections.

And Lusaka Town Clerk Alex Mwansa has disclosed that the installation of the Lusaka Mayor Wilson Kalumba will be done before Friday next week.

Speaking during the swearing in ceremony of the 33 councilors this morning, Mr. Mwansa says the installation will be presided over by the government official appointed by President Edgar Lungu.

He says there is need for the councilors to execute their jobs diligently and protect the interest of the public.

He has cautioned them to use government infrastructures developments to facilitate local development and not personal interest.

Mr. Mwansa says if the Lusaka City Council discovers that they have misused their powers sanctions will be taken to the offenders.
