Disband office of District Commissioner – ZCSD urges govt

The Zambia Council for Socio Development (ZCSD) has joined calls for President Edgar Lungu to do away with the office of the district commissioner.

ZCSD Executive Secretary Lewis Mwape says now that the country has executive mayors and council chairpersons, they can perform those duties that the office of the district commissioner’s was performing.

He says doing away with the office of the district commissioners will also help in saving on the resources that the country is in so much need of.

Mr. Mwape says a lot of resources are spent on the running of the District Commissioners office which if diverted to other productive sectors can help move the country forward.

He further states that looking at the many challenges that the country is facing, it is important for the country to be cost effective.
