IMF stands ready to support Zambia

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has assured President Edgar Lungu of its continued support for Zambia.

IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde says the IMF stands ready to continue supporting Zambia in every way possible through policy advice, technical assistance and financial support, if needed.

In a congratulatory message to President Lungu on His re-election as Sixth Republican President, dated September 14 from Washington, D.C. Ms Lagarde has stated that President Lungu is beginning his new term at a time when Zambia is facing severe economic challenges, including adverse effects of lower copper prices and electricity shortages.

The IMF Managing Director has wished the President every success as he works to improve the living standards of the Zambian people.
