Stakeholders welcome inquiry into violence

Stakeholders have welcomed the pronouncement by President Edgar Lungu to appoint a commission of inquiry to look into the post election violence witnessed in some parts of the country.

But the Southern Center for Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) is advising President Lungu not onbonifacely to focus on the post election violence, but also the violence that took place prior to the elections.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe tells QTV News that much as his organization welcomes the idea to come with the commission of inquiry, focusing on the post election violence alone will be doing the country a disservice.

Mr. Cheembe says the important thing is to identity and deal with all perpetrators of political violence in the country.

And Zambia Center for Inter Party Dialogue (ZCID) Executive Director Horrance Chilando says his organization would have been surprised if the Head of State did not make effective pronouncements on the post election violence.

Mr. Chilando however, hopes that this will not be used to pursue
