Africans are proud of Zambians- Ruto

Visiting Kenyan Deputy President William Ruto says Africans are very proud of Zambians for having demonstrated to the world that democracy in Africa is taking root in the continent and that leaders respect the will of the people.

Mr. Ruto says the peaceful elections held in Zambia last month is a clear demonstration to the world that Africa is able to take charge of its own destiny.

Speaking during the State Lunch-on at State House this afternoon, Mr. Ruto agrees with President Edgar Lungu on the need to industrialize Zambia saying this move will also see the industrialization of Africa.

He explains that between Africa and the rest of the world last year, the trade imbalance that saw Africa export goods worthy over US$50 billion and that the continent imported goods worth US$67 billion.

He says this means that Africans are spending more money out of the continent that what is coming into the continent.

Mr. Ruto says there is need for the continent to improve on value addition so as to earn more in order to boost economy of the African continent.
