MMD faction leader Nevers Mumba has pleaded not guilty to one count of criminal trespass.

Dr Mumba pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Lusaka Magistrate David Simusamba this morning.

Dr Mumba is accused of trespassing after storming the ZNBC newsroom on 8th September to seek clarification over a news item on the 1900hrs news bulletin relating to the presidential petition.

And the State objected to an application by Dr Mumba’s Lawyers Robert Simeza and Martha Mushipe for their client to be granted bail.

State prosecutor Victor Choongo told the Court that Dr Mumba was a threat to national security.

The State argued that Dr Mumba could not be granted bail because he threatened to ensure President-elect Edgar Lungu’s inauguration does not take place.

Magistrate Simusamba is yet to make a ruling on whether to allow the state to call witnesses to prove Dr Mumba’s threats.
