The High Court has refused to grant the opposition UPND a conservatory order to block the inauguration of President-elect Edgar Lungu.

In his ruling this evening High Court Mwila Chitabo said he has no jurisdiction to make such interim relief.

This means that the inauguration of the President-elect and his vice Inonge Wina should take place as scheduled on Tuesday the 13th of September next week.

The UPND has however applied for leave to appeal to the Supreme which Judge Chitabo has granted.

The UPND lawyers have since made indications of appealing against the decision of the High Court this very evening.

And the High Court has thrown out an application by Attorney General Likando Kalaluka in which he asked the Court to declare the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and his vice Geoffrey Mwamba as vexatious litigants.

In his ruling this evening Judge Chitabo says for the fact there are active matters before other Courts the High Court could not pronounce itself on such an application.

Judge Chitabo however says the application by Attorney General was properly before the High Court.
