Zesco United have announced injuries to key players ahead of their rescheduled Week 22 derby against Forest Rangers on Thursday.

Jackson Mwanza continues to be sidelined with a hamstring injury which saw him miss the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya on Sunday.

The forward, who has scored eight goals for his club in all competitions this season, was left out of the Chipolopolo side that faced Kenya on Sunday after he was put on light training by the national team medics and failed to recover in time for the match.

He is one of four players who are on the club’s short term injury list announced via the official website.

The others are Shemmy Mayembe (groin), Lottie Bwalya (hamstring) and Idriss Mbombo (shoulder).

“Jackson Mwanza – hamstring – he was on medication and started gym last week with the national team physiotherapist, Shemmy Mayembe – groin – he was on medication last week and was given time to rest, Lottie Bwalya – hamstring – he was on medication and was given time to rest but he has resumed some light training, Idris Mbombo – left shoulder – he was on medication last week and was given time to rest.”

The club also announced that two out of three players who were out on long term injuries had recovered and that they had resumed training.

“Humphrey Maseneko has fully recovered and has started full time training, Bornwell Silengo has also fully recovered and has started training with the rest of the team members and Nyambe Mulenga is still out but was advised to do some extremely light training.”
