Constitutional Court acted within the law – LAZ

The Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) says the Constitutional Court acted within the law to dismiss the presidential election petition without a hearing.

LAZ vice president Eddie Mwitwa has told Qfm news by telephone that this is in accordance the rules of the Constitutional Court.

Mr. Mwitwa explains that the rules of the Constitutional Court are that the decision of the majority judges prevails as the case was when three of the five judges agreed to dismiss the petition.

He however, states that the LAZ Council was today expected to have a meeting to look at the decision of the Constitutional Court before coming up with a position.

Mr. Mwitwa says the Association has also taken note that there is an action commenced by the UPND in the High Court following decision of the Constitutional Court.
