Two Zambians report ConCourt to police

Two Zambian citizens have lodged a complaint at woodlands police station in Lusaka against the constitutional court failure to deliver judgment within the stipulated period of 14 days in the republican constitution.

This follows the Constitutional Court’s move to adjourn to Monday next week the hearing of the presidential election petition which was earlier set to be heard and concluded yesterday.

Alfred Mbewe of House Number 17/39 of Matero East, Lusaka and Emmanuel Mtonga of House Number 30/06 Foxdale, both businessmen have reported the constitutional court to Woodlands Police Station alleging that the supreme law of the land has been abrogated.

The two Lusaka businessmen have told journalists shortly after reporting the matter to the police that as Zambians they feel the constitution must be protected and respected by all.

Mr. Mbewe argues that the constitutional court ruled that the fourteen days stipulated in the republican constitution following the petition filed by the UPND was ending last night before midnight.

He says Zambians woke up to the rude shock that the petition will continue at the expense of national development.

Mr. Mbewe says a lot of things have stalled because of the petition and that Zambians were assured that it was ending yesterday but that this is not the case.

And Mr. Mtonga says the Zambia’s constitution has been raped.

He hopes that the police will take up the matter and take the necessary action.
