UPND condemns politics of belly

The opposition UPND says its losing parliamentary candidates who have withdrawn their election petitions and defected to the ruling Patriotic Front are practicing politics of the belly.

UPND Secretary General Stephen Katuka says such decisions are unreasonable because they do not add any value to society.

Mr. Katuka has wondered why they filed the petitions in the first place if they knew they would later withdraw them.

Mr Katuka says he suspects that the losing candidates have been paid handsomely to withdraw their petitions.
