ActionAid demands for transparency in recovery of money from ex ministers

ActionAid Zambia has called for transparency in the recovery of money former minister were paid during their illegal stay in office remained in office.

ActionAid Zambia Country Director Nalucha Ziba says there is need for all relevant government departments in charge of getting this money to be transparent by disclosing how much each former minister is supposed to pay back, and the repayment schedules to be made public.

Ms Ziba says the money belongs to the Zambian people therefore the repayment schedules should be made public in order to give confidence to the people that indeed the monies have been paid back as per Constitutional court directive.

She says the Auditor General’s Office should in the first place determine how much each minister owes to make it easier for all former ministers to be held accountable.
