George Lwandamina says he is not going to get sleepless nights over Zesco United’s scoreless home draw against Green Eagles on Sunday.

Thirteenth-placed Eagles frustrated the defending champions at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola to see the home side record their third draw in their last four league matches.

The result left Zesco still in fifth on 37 points on the Faz Super League table from 18 games played with six matches in hand, 18 points behind leaders Zanaco.

“A draw is part of football so I wouldn’t say that I am disappointed but we would have loved to win the game,” Lwandamina said.

Zesco had the better opportunities in this modest but one-sided affair that saw Eagles goalkeeper Satchmo Chakawa deny striker Idris Mbombo in the 51st minute and midfielder Cletus Chama twice, in the 82nd and 89th minutes.

“It was a tough game. The least we expected was a draw,” Lwandamina said.

“The tactical approach from our opponents was to sit behind the ball and sometimes it is very difficult to break such formations.

“We still created opportunities but we were just not clinical. Otherwise we would have carried the day.”

The draw saw Eagles improve against Zesco this season after losing 1-0 at home in the first leg meeting in April.
