IBA lifts suspension on Itezhi Tezhi radio

The Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has with immediate effect lifted the ban on the broadcasting license for Itezhi Tezhi Community Radio Station.

IBA board Chairman Justin Mutale has told a media briefing that the IBA board and Itezhi Tezhi Community Radio Station management met this morning and resolved to lift the ban on the station’s broadcast license, through its Special Licensing, Compliance and Consumer Affairs Committee.

Brigadier General Mutale has since commended the radio station for attaching great importance to the matter and taking time to resolve it through amicable dialogue.

He says the authority is committed to promote an objective broadcasting industry in Zambia through a fair, transparent and effective regulation.

Recently the IBA Board suspended broadcasting licenses for Muvi TV, Komboni Radio and Radio Itezhi Tezhi for unprofessional misconduct.

And IBA Director General Josephine Mapoma has called on Journalists in the country to be accurate and ethical in their reporting.

Ms. Mapoma says there is need for all media houses to uphold professionalism to avoid setting the country on fire.
