The ruling Patriotic Front has accused the opposition UPND of issuing alarming statements aimed at causing panic in the minds of Zambians.

Addressing a media briefing, PF Deputy Spokesperson Frank Bwalya says it is important that the UPND leadership appeals to its members to remain calm as the nation awaits the outcome of the petition.

And Mr. Bwalya says the PF is ready for petition contrary to assertions by one of the UPND lawyers Gilbert Phiri that the party is not ready.

He says the PF will report Mr. Phiri to the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) for professional misconduct for issuing a misleading statement to the nation when he was not in the chambers when the matter was heard this morning.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bwalya has refuted claims that PF members are driving out people in their homes more especially in Lusaka who they perceive to be supporters of the UPND.
