Chingangu battling for his life after beating

Former national boxing heavy weight champion Joseph Chingangu is battling for his life in Levy Mwanawasa General Hospital after being badly beaten by a mob of University of Zambia students after he allegedly attempted to steal a laptop.

Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga explains that it is alleged that Chingangu attempted to steal the laptop through the window of one of the hostels before the mob of students descended on him.

Mr. Hamoonga says the incident happened between 21:00 hours and 22:00 hours last night.

And Police have warned members of the public against engaging in mob justice.

Mr Hamoonga says mob justice constitutes a crime.
