The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has been encouraged to start investing in advanced technology in order to improve election management.

Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) President Andrew Nthewewe says the commission should learn a lot of lessons from last week’s polls and improve come 2021.

Mr. Nthewewe says it is important that the commission for the next five years prioritize investing in advanced technology to move away from the manual system of voting to the electronic one to avoid post election confusion.

He says the time frame in which the final results are announced is too long to comprehend in this technological era.

He adds that the ECZ must strive that the 2021 elections will be conducted electronically and not manually saying even in Namibia and Kenya they are using electronic system of voting.

And the YALI President has urged government to start revamping the Government Printers in order to avoid printing ballot papers outside the country to avoid suspicions by some stakeholders.
