The Advocacy Against Child Abuse and Gender Based Violence has encouraged government to strengthen the ‘Safe House’ initiative in order to accommodate and protect victims of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the country.

Advocacy Executive Director Bellion Chola says when victims of GBV report cases to the police, it is imperative that they are kept in a safer place away from the people who abused them.

Mr. Chola says this is the more reason why the country is still seeing cases of GBV withdrawn by victims because they are intimidated and sometimes they are corrupted to withdraw the case.

And Mr. Chola has encouraged government to ensure that they take the fast track courts on GBV offenses to all parts of the country saying this will help in eliminating the vice in the country.
