Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) President Charles Milupi has predicted a fuel price hike should Zambia agree to the terms of the proposed International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout plan.

Mr Milupi says electricity tariffs are also expected to go up.

He says it is obvious that some of the austerity bailout measures the IMF will insist on is the removal of subsidies on fuel and electricity.

In an interview with QTV News, Mr. Milupi says he further anticipates constraints in employment levels especially in the civil service.

Mr. Milupi states that what is however unfortunate is that the Zambian government has no choice but to engage the IMF and allow hardships to befall the Zambian people.

He says Zambia has too much debt to borrow externally other than from the IMF.
