HH retakes lead with results from 42 constituencies

Opposition UPND president Hakainde Hichilema has retaken the lead out of the results counted from 42 of 156 constituencies being verified.

Mr. Hichilema has polled 384, 801 votes while his closest rival President Edgar Lungu is in the second position with 373, 496 votes.

In third position is  FDD’s Edith Nawakwi with 5, 564 votes followed by PAC’s Andyford Banda with 2, 890 votes.

UNIP leader Tilyenji Kaunda is fifth with 2, 307 votes while Rainbow’s Wynter Kabimba is in sixth position with 1,916 votes.

UPP’s Savior Chishimba has polled  1, 602 in the seventh position with Green Party leader Peter Sinkamba in the eighth position with  1, 042 votes.

Maxwell Mwamba the leader of the DA is least in the ninth position with 533 votes.

Electoral Commissioner of Zambia (ECZ) Commissioner Fredrick Ng’andu  has told a media briefing in Lusaka this evening that this is from 774, 151 valid votes that were cast.

Dr. Ng’andu has disclosed that the percentage voter turnout in the 42 constituencies was 57.04 percent.
