Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) President Edith Nawakwi is confident of a first round outright victory in the presidential race.

Speaking shortly after casting her vote at UNZA Sports hall, Ms. Nawakwi says the high turn of voters will help her secure 50 plus one threshold without going for a rerun.

Ms. Nawakwi has since appealed to Zambians especially young people to desist from violence even as they wait for the results.

Meanwhile United Progressive Party (UPP) President Saviour Chishimba has also called for calm and peace even after the elections.

Dr. Chishimba notes that it is also important for those who will lose the elections to concede defeat so that the country’s democracy can continue to mature.

He has expressed confidence of winning the elections.

And First Republican President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda says his vote is for peace and development.

Dr. Kaunda has since encouraged Zambians to maintain peace.

He said this shortly after casting his vote at woodlands ‘A’ basic school in Lusaka today.
