The Human Rights Commission has distanced itself from the statement circulating on social media talking about human rights violations in Zambia.

Human Rights Commission Director Florence Chibwesha tells QFM News in a statement that the commission has never undertaken a comparative analysis of the most suppressed political parties in Zambia, Southern Africa or anywhere else.

Ms Chibwesha says neither has the Human Rights Commission conducted a study of the human rights records of Zambia under any of the previous and current Presidents.

She says the quoted Dr. Lackson Kabela neither works with nor represents the Human Rights Commission in any capacity.

She states that the statement in question, therefore, has nothing to do with the Human Rights Commission and does not represent the views of the Human Rights Commission and that there is only one Human Rights Commission legally established under Article 230 of the Zambian Constitution.

Ms Chibwesha confirms that the Commission has never issued such a statement.

She has since urged the members of the public, both national and international stakeholders to treat the assertion that the Human Rights Commission is the source of information contained in the stated statement with the contempt it deserves because it is false and malicious.
