Tuesday’s Lusaka armed robbers are former prisoners

Two armed robbers behind yesterday’s shooting where a police officer was shot and later died in Lusaka are former prisoners.

And the police in Lusaka have recovered a Toyota Allion that was used in the Aggravated robbery yesterday.

RAY HAMOONGAYesterday between 9hrs and 10hrs, Constable Pytihas Ntulukila, who was accompanying a cash van, was shot in the abdomen by four armed robbers and later died at CFB Hospital and the robbers snatched K200, 000.

Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has disclosed the development to QTV News today that the vehicle used by the robbers was abandoned off Burma Road near Interland filling station.

Mr. Hamoonga explains that upon searching the motor vehicle, the police recovered a firearm, an AK 47 rifle with no rounds of Ammunition.

He says the Motor vehicle was stolen at gun point in Emmasdale area along Vubu road on 31st July, 2016 at about 23:00 hours.

He adds that the Police are still pursuing the four criminals who are dangerous, and are believed to be four in number and two were recently released from Prison.

Mr. Hamoonga has advised the public to inform the Police as soon as it is possible should they have information leading to their whereabouts and not to approach them as they are dangerous.

And in another development, Police have arrested David Longwani, a businessman of Lusaka’s Bauleni Compound for threatening violence where he used a pistol against Dr Mupanga Mwanakatwe on the 1st August, 2016 between 12:30 and 13:00 hours in Bauleni Compound.

The pistol has since been recovered and the suspect is detained in Police custody awaiting court proceedings.
