Police officer dies after exchange of fire with robbers

A Lusaka police officer has died after being shot by armed robbers who attacked the vehicle carrying the money from the bank and went away with undisclosed amount of money.

The incidence happened in Lusaka this morning when the police officer accompanying the cash van was shot by the armed robbers after the exchange of fire and was rushed to CFB Hospital where he later died.

It is believed that the robbers trailed the cash van from the bank before hitting it in the side and eventually shot the police officer who was accompanying a white Nissan Hard Body Registration Number ABX 2313 carrying undisclosed amount of money.

An effort to get a comment from the Zambia Police Service proved futile by broadcast time.
