ZEMA promoting sustainable development
As the 90th agriculture and commercial show comes to an end under the theme “Managing the Environment for Growth“, this year’s show has been exciting to many institutions that exhibited at the show grounds.
Among the institutions that were excited with this theme was the Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA).
ZEMA Public Relations Officer Ireen Chipili explains that the theme this year is appropriate to the regulatory agency because this is the function they play.
Ms. Chipili notes that the agency is trying to promote sustainable development were they are utilizing the country’s natural resources to support activities of the present and future generation.
She adds that protecting the environment is not just a responsibility of the government institutions but that individuals can play a role in protecting the environment.
Ms. Chipili further states that ZEMA has come up with many programs to help sensitize people on the need for them to protect the environment.
