The Non Governmental Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has charged that sensitization on the referendum has not been given the attention it deserves even with only a few days remaining before the elections is held alongside the national referendum.

NGOCC Executive Director Engwase Mwale says they feel that the engagement with the voters on the referendum is not adequate even if the civil society organizations are on the ground, there still people that are still not well informed on the issue.

She points out that that it would be important even with the few days remaining to get the voters to make up their decision based on the information they have received.

And Ms. Mwale has appealed to the people of Zambia to remain peaceful in the few days leading to the elections.

She says violence should be a thing of the past stressing that it is important to create an environment where every Zambian will be accorded an opportunity to fully participate in the general election.
