Police pick up five decomposed bodies in Lusaka

Police in Lusaka have picked up five bodies of people in an unfinished building in Lusaka’s Chalala area.

The police service has since picked up two women in connection with the murder.

Police Deputy Spokesperson Esther Katongo tells QFM News that it is believed that the deceased were murdered by the care taker’s wife who was found in the same building with her colleague whom she had invited to go and stay with her in the same house where the bodies were found.

Ms Katongo explains that the care taker is among the deceased, together with bodies of a baby, two female juveniles and another adult person.

She discloses that the bodies will be picked up after postmortem as they were found in a decomposed state, some of them beheaded.

The Police Deputy Spokesperson says this came to light after members of the public reported the matter to police and that surprisingly enough, the two women were found in the same structure where the bodies were.

She says the two women have not been identified yet but are detained in police custody and postmortem to be conducted on the bodies today before they are picked up.

Ms Katongo says the deceased have not yet been identified and that officers are still on the ground to gather full details concerning the incident

And in another development, the Zambia Police says the report circulating on social media under the headline: PF cadre cuts woman’s hand in Muchinga province over support for UPND with a picture of a woman having an amputated part of the hand purported to have happened in Zambia is not a true story.

Ms Katongo says the story in circulation happened in Nigeria Abia state and not in Zambia hence the Zambian names in the story are false.

Mrs. Katongo notes that the story is just a propaganda gimmick aimed at putting Zambia in bad light.

She has since urged all the concerned to dismiss the report as it is just a fabricated one.
