The organization is however, hoping that the pronouncements by the candidates to develop rural areas will not only at political rallies, but will be followed up with action.

CSPR Executive Director Patrick Nshindano says poverty levels in rural areas remain high, and that the target should be to reduce them if the nation is to drastically reduce the high poverty levels.

Mr. Nshindano notes that the pronouncements by presidential candidates with regards to rural development are therefore within the already established framework of national development.

He says the high poverty levels in rural areas of up to 78 percent are worrying and that CSPR welcomes efforts by stakeholders to reduce these levels.
