ZNWL hails govt’s efforts in reducing maternal deaths

The Zambia National Women’s Lobby (ZNWL) has hailed government’s efforts in reducing maternal deaths especially in Lusaka province.

ZNWL Executive Director Juliet Chibuta says the revelation by Lusaka Provincial Medical Officer Dr. Malama that maternal deaths in Lusaka are decreasing is pleasing to the women’s movement.

She however, urges government to ensure that maternal mortality statistics also reduce at national level by taking health services closer to the women across the country.

Ms Chibuta notes that government has demonstrated commitment in addressing health challenges facing women in the country.

She has since encouraged government not to relent in efforts to ensure the nation achieves the target of zero rate mater
