United Party for National Development (UPND) Leader Hakainde Hichilema has challenged President Edgar Lungu to a live debate on TV to highlight the plans for the nation.

In a statement made available to QFM News today, Mr. Hichilema says he is challenging the Head of State to go head-to-head with him to debate their plans and policies for the country so the people can decide for themselves who they want to see in State House for the next five years.

Mr. Hichilema says this is an opportunity for the two leaders to lead by example and send a strong message to the people that they believe that competition in a democracy is about the exchange of ideas and civilised discussion, not violence, slander and intimidation.

He says this is a chance for them to focus on the issues that are impacting the daily lives of the people, such as joblessness, rising food prices and the difficulty of accessing even basic health services.

He adds that it is a chance for them to educate voters on the choice they face on 11th August 2016.

Speaking to Qfm News in a walk in interview today, Mr. Mapani says that was a careless statement coming from the PF leadership and that it shows how unconcerned to the people of Zambia they are.
