Four chiefs from Mporokoso have said they are assured of continuity of developmental projects in their areas should President Edgar Lungu bounce back in power because he has demonstrated that he is capable of transforming the country.

And over 150 members from the United Party for National Development (UPND) and National Restoration Party (NAREP) in Mporokoso have defected to the ruling Patriotic Front (PF).

Speaking on behalf of other chiefs when they met President Lungu, chief Chitoshi say the chiefs in the area are happy with President Lungu’s performance so far adding that they are convinced that he needs a fresh mandate to complete the developmental projects he had embarked on.

The traditional leader says the chiefs are happy with the infrastructure development in the area especially in the road sector where most roads have been worked on.

He also says the chiefs are humbled by President Lungu’s continued call for peace in the country saying that is a manifestation of a person who believes in and fears God.

He also asked President Lungu to fulfill the promise given by late Michael Sata of creating a district in Lunte.

He says the three chiefs at the centre of the district have already agreed on the central place where the district administration will be build should government decide to declare the area as a district.

Meanwhile President Lungu reiterated the need for stronger ties between government and the traditional leaders.

And when addressing a rally in Lunte constituency, president Lungu has promised to declare Lunte as a district in the next six months.

President Lungu has since appealed to the electorates to vote PF candidates.

And speaking on behalf of the defectors during a rally addressed by President Lungu at President Park in Mporokoso today, former UPND district Youth Chairperson Chongo Fumapo says he was tempted to initially ditch the ruling party to join the opposition because he thought the UPND had something to offer to the Zambians but has just realized that it was a wastage of time to work with them.

Mr. Fumapo says the UPND has no direction and that most of the promises it is giving the people are a total farce and an opposite of what is obtaining in the party.

He says having worked with UPND Vice President for Administration Geoffrey Mwamba, he has just come to the conclusion that the party has no capacity to attain most of the promises it is giving Zambians but is only preoccupied with forming government for personal gain.
