President Edgar Lungu arrives in Muchinga

Chieftainess Kaputa of the Tabwa speaking people in Kaputa District has praised President Edgar Lungu for his commitment in preaching peace and unity in the country ahead of next month’s general elections.

And Chieftainess Kaputa has bemoaned the continued wrangles over traditional boundaries in the chiefdoms in the country.

Chieftainess Kaputa says the boundaries have led to land wrangled among the chiefs.

She says chiefs cannot fight over land hence her appeal to government to address the land wrangles.

The traditional leader said this when President Edgar Lungu paid a courtesy call on her at her palace in Kaputa this morning.

She has also praised government for the many infrastructure development her chiefdom and Kaputa district in general has received.

Meanwhile, the chief has appealed to government to install solar milling plants in Kaputa district to cushion the high price of mealie meal in the area.

And President Lungu has assured the chief that he would instruct Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister Joseph Katema to seriously address the land wrangles among chiefs.

President Lungu however reiterated his commitment to ensuring that development flows to all parts of the country, including her chiefdom and the entire Kaputa district.

He says he would continue engaging chiefs on the need to maintain peace in the nation as the country goes to the polls next month.
