The Anti- Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) has advised the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) against ignoring reported electoral corruption taking place in the ongoing campaigns.

AVAP Executive Director Richwell Mulwani says his organization has taken note of reports suggesting that some political parties are dishing out money and bicycles to woo votes as they campaign.

Mr. Mulwani says his organization believes that the ECZ and the Zambia Police working together with the Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) should move in quickly and investigate such reports.

He states that AVAP fears that if these reports are not quickly investigated and perpetrators are not brought to book, chances of having some elections nullified after August 11th are high.

Mr. Mulwani says his organization is particularly calling upon the ECZ to use its powers enshrined in the Electoral Process Act to prevent this from happening.
