ICOZ concerned political violence is never ending

The Independent Churches of Zambia (ICOZ) says it is painful that all efforts aimed at ending political violence are not being taken seriously.

ICOZ Board Chairman Bishop David Masupa says the call by President Edgar Lungu for the church to conduct national prayers ahead of general election is welcome, but that politicians need to also respond positively to such efforts.

Bishop Masupa says everyone is a witness to the efforts of stakeholders in ending political violence and hate speech being perpetrated by political players, but that this has all been in vain.

He says the church is de-motivated to conduct such an undertaking considering that all previous efforts have not yielded positive results.

Bishop Masupa has however, stated that the church will continue to pray for peace to prevail in the nation.
