Govt makes progress in implementation of Decentralization policy

Local Government and Housing Minister Steven Kampyongo says tremendous progress has been made in the implementation of the revised Decentralization Policy.

Mr. Kampyongo says government during the last 3 years devolved portfolio functions away from the Central government.

He points out that one such practical example of decentralization is the creation of new Districts.

Mr. Kampyongo says the creation of new Districts is enabling government to have structures in areas that did not have previously.

He says it is through such structures at District level that government is rolling out the revised decentralization policy.

Mr. Kampyongo adds that government has also begun building the capacities of councils across the country.
