Milupi, Changala condemn Friday shooting of woman

Opposition Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) has described as an absolute tragedy yesterday’s shooting  to death of a female in Lusaka’s Chawama Township by the Police.

ADD president Charles Milupi says his party finds such a development as saddening and indicative of where President Edgar Lungu wants to take the Country’s democracy.

Mr. Milupi has told Qfm News by telephone that he hopes the people of Zambia will reflect on this.

And civil rights activist Brebner Changala says it is totally an acceptable for the Police to use live ammunition on an armed protestors.

Mr. Changala says the Police officer that used live on the deceased Chawama woman must be made to account.

He is of the view that failure to do so will descend into lawless on the part of the Police.

Meanwhile the Human Rights Commission (HRC)has also added its violence strongly condemning the reported shooting of the woman by the police.

The HRC finds it regrettable that lives have continued to be lost either at the hands of police officers or party cadres ahead of the August 2016 elections.

The commission thinks that there is no justification for arbitrarily taking away a person’s life in the manner that the Police did.
